Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 Community Event In Mid-February

Will Kinsler, EA Sports Content & Community Manager, has graciously invited JBHuskers from the Back Nine Blog to attend the Tiger Woods PGA Tour ‘10 community event this coming February.  This is a great opportunity to meet with the team who is working on the game.

What the Back Nine Blog would like to ask of it’s readers is to please provide any feedback of what you like and dislike with Tiger 09 and suggestions of what you would like to see in the future.  I will provide further updates as they come in.

EASW Producer Blog: Mike DeVault

EA Sports World has posted a blog entry from Mike DeVault, Senior Designer for Tiger Woods PGA Tour for the PS3 & 360.Like the previous blog with Eric Busch, there is no game info disclosed, simply background on DeVault’s career.

A little background about me…I’ve been working here at EA Tiburon for about 7 ½ years now. Starting in our QA Department, I worked my way up through the Production ranks and ultimately into a Sr. Designer role. I feel both privileged and honored to not only work at EA, but to contribute to the Tiger Woods franchise.

We’ve got a lot of great new features that we are adding to this year’s game. I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to everyone who has ever posted feedback and suggestions for new features. We really do value and use that feedback in the design and decision making process.

EASW Producer Blog: Eric Busch

EA Sports World has posted a new blog entry from Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf (Wii version) producer Eric Busch.

The blog does not disclose any game features or news, but does talk about Busch’s career path in becoming a game producer.

I’ve been at EA for about four and a half years, and have been a golf fan for even longer.  I’ve played the sport since I was a kid, and during high school and college many of my weekends and summers were spent working as a greenskeeper at local country clubs.  I certainly wasn’t a huge fan of waking up before dawn, but getting to play for free on Monday afternoons when the course was closed was a nice perk.  We had to walk, but a free round is a free round, right?

EA Lays Off Staff at Tiburon

The following info is courtesy IGN:

GameSpot is reporting on a story from the Orlando Sentinel that says that Electronic Arts’ Tiburon studio has laid off some of its staff. While no definite number was given, the news comes as a surprise considering Tiburon develops the hugely popular Madden NFL Football, NCAA Football and Tiger Woods Golf.

This news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that EA would be cutting ten percent of its staff. Black Box was among the studios to shut down completely and now some EA Tiburon employees can be added to the list of cutback casualties.

We’ve contacted EA Sports for a comment and will update this article as soon as one comes along. Here’s the comment we got from Craig Hagen at EA: “Some of the best-selling sports games in the industry come out of Tiburon and their lineup and the quality of that lineup will not change.”

He also went on to say that layoffs and cutbacks would continue throughout EA thru March of this year.

Tiger Takes Part in Pre-Inauguration Events

While speaking at the Lincoln Memorial (Sunday the 18th) as part of the pre-inauguration ceremonies, Tiger talked about his father Earl Woods, who was a lieutenant colonel in the US Army, before praising the “dedication and commitment of those who serve”.

“I am the son of a man who dedicated his life to his country, family and the military, and I am a better person for it,” Woods said.
